Councilman Reed was joined by community leaders and police officers at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Police Athletic League’s (PAL) Grand Re-Opening. PAL is a nonprofit agency which assists close to 700 of our youth in the urban core with athletic, recreational, and after-school services. PAL brings together officers of the Kansas City Police Department with at-risk children to develop trust between the community and the police and to provide kids with a safe place. The ceremony included presentations of awards to Board members, volunteers, and donors. In addition, a tour was given to show the renovations to the 50 year old building and to present the new NFL Chief’s football field. The newly renovated PAL building is located at 1801 White Avenue. Third District PIAC funds were used for public property improvements around the facility, and $750,000 in private corporate sponsorship funds were used for the fields and building repairs.
